This time of year many people stress over gifts for people, and consumerism can run over the important part of the Judeo-Christian holiday season. People. Yes, I, The Benevolent Misanthrope, said that – People are the important thing. It is not about the gifts and the food. It is about letting people know you are thinking about them.

I know that there is always the challenge of finding a gift that is just perfect or making the perfect holiday meal. Take a moment and think about what is the purpose of all these things, to show someone that you are thinking about them and that they are part of your world. Why not simply do that?

I also suggest that if you are looking for a gift to get me, I would request a donation to my favorite charity, Child’s Play http://www.childsplaycharity.org/ a charity dedicated to improving the lives of children with toys and games in hospitals worldwide. Plus I would really like a holiday card/e-mail just to let me know that you thought about me.
